The inventive coil former may be used for driving the leaf
of a sliding door. In one embodiment, the sliding door is arched, while in
another embodiment, the door is horizontal. The inventive coil former may be
used for other applications as well, such as feeding devices, handling
equipment, and transport systems. It may include a slanted surface and a
locating edge. Various types of these structures are used in the manufacture of
the invention.
A coil former can be fabricated using an injection moulding
process, and is preferably made from plastic material with good injection
molding properties. Natural PA6-30H, for example, can be used. The material
should be flame resistant and continuously heat resistant up to 130 deg.
Celsius. Moreover, the inventive coil former has a guiding device 9 that is
shaped like a recess. The guiding device is arranged to align with adjacent
coil formers in a defined manner.
A first coil of the inventive coil former is made of wire.
The winding wire is guided in a defined position along a wire feed assistance.
A clamping device 6 receives the winding cable at a defined position along the
wire feed. The holding device 4 has a nose protruding beyond the flange 3. The
guiding wire is then guided to a subsequent coil former. During this process,
the winding is regulated by a clamping device.
A further feature of the inventive coil former is a
reception guide on the entry side. The reception guide helps in guiding the
winding wire within the wire reception. The winding wire enters the guide
before proceeding with the body winding. The reception guide enables the
winding wire to exit the wire reception after the body winding is completed.
The guiding device also facilitates the winding process. Once the coil former
is coiled, it should be able to be wound on a cylindrical surface.
The inventive coil former comprises a nose that protrudes
beyond the flange 3. The inclination defines the starting position of the coil.

ring-shaped tool. The flange is ideally made of a plastic material with good
injection moulding properties. The inclination allows the winding mandrel to
pass through several coil formers.
